| Description | In recent year, the publication landscape in migration studies – and more generally academic publishing – has gone through important changes. The priority put by funders and scholars on open access has led to the adoption of new publication strategies by authors as well as new policies by publishing houses and the wider use of outlets – such as repositories – through which data and publications in social sciences can be stored and disseminated outside of traditional avenues. These changes have generated new opportunities for authors but also legitimately raise concerns about their inclusiveness and impact on the profession. In this workshop, we propose to reflect on the implications of this fast-changing environment for early career researchers in migration studies. In the afternoon, participants will have the opportunity to engage in an interactive exchange with senior researchers in migration studies, who have published across a wide range of outlets, to discuss their experiences and strategies. |
